south florida utilization review (sfur) has been performing all case physician advisor reviews - telephonic and retrsopective - as well as quality assurance projects since 1986 sfur currently performs physician advisor level utilization review for a number of insurance carriers and we do external peer review for 140 hospitals. a third service is our negotiation of hospital bills, surgeon’s bills and ambulatory surgical center bills. south florida utilization review is a member of the national association of independent review organizations (nairo). in 2004 south florida utilization review achieved accreditation by urac, now one of a small number of review organizations in the united states to have earned that distinction. we recently have been further accredited to november 1, 2013. in march 2011 we celebrated our 25th anniversary of operation as one of the first private independent review organizations in florida. we employ 150 physician advisors in florida, the southeast united state
