opening summer 2022! at south porch artists residency, we believe that artists, scholars and clergy – while often undervalued – provide essential services to our community, and to each of us as human beings. they uncover the universe, reveal our common humanity, expose injustice and point to reconciliation, and nurture our hearts, minds and spirits. our mission is to support the essential work of artists, scholars and clergy by offering them dedicated space, time and community, and to enrich the people of the lowcountry and our residents through personal and cultural exchange. south porch is committed to community – both the community of our residents and the local community of our neighbors here in the lowcountry. we strive to foster ephemeral yet meaningful connections between our residents (that we hope may lead to long-lasting friendships!), and looks for ways to forge ties with the people of our town and surrounding area. your residency can last from one week to nearly a mon
