the south sudan center of america is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists the south sudanese community in the united states and abroad. we help immigrants meet basic needs, work to reduce poverty, provide education scholarships, organize cultural celebrations, and build schools in south sudan. the south sudan center of america was started by biar atem, one of the lost boys. he was seven years old when soldiers from the north came to kill him and every other boy in south sudan. now he’s a “rags-to-riches” success story in the united states and was named to fortune magazine’s “heroes of the 500” for helping other children suffering from persecution and poverty. if you’re a south sudanese immigrant to the united states who is looking for educational help, financial counseling, or south sudanese cultural opportunities, then contact us. you’re not alone. we want to hear from you, and want to do everything we can to make you feel welcome and cared for in america.
