salc was officially launched on 20 june 2005, originally as a joint initiative of the international bar association (iba) and the open society initiative for southern africa (osisa). our vision is that the rule of law and human rights are respected, protected, promoted and fulfilled throughout southern africa. our mission is to promote and advance human rights, democratic governance, rule of law and access to justice in southern africa through strategic litigation, advocacy and capacity strengthening.
