the mission of the southern virginia higher education center is to advance the economic potential of southern virginia through education, innovation, and collaboration. through partnerships and affiliations with multiple institutions of higher education including community colleges, public and private four-year colleges & universities, and international institutions, we offer 120+ degree programs--from ged to ph.d. we are proud to serve more than 4,000 degree students annually. in 2013, 233 degrees were produced, and 1,763 prek-12 students were provided with stem-h enrichment opportunities. since 2008, 3,500 workers have been prepared for jobs through our workforce services division. the svhec is an independent state agency located in the town of south boston in the beautiful commonwealth of virginia.
