southgate associates is an award winning, multi-disciplinary heritage conservation practice. when southgate associates was established in 1990, it was solely a conservation engineering practice, but the complex needs of clients, projects and the regulatory environment saw the practice expand in a multi-disciplinary direction, to offer a broad range of heritage conservation services from a team with a diverse set of backgrounds, including engineering, surveying, archaeology, anthropology and planning. a key area of our work involves the conservation of historic buildings to best practice standards, with an emphasis on maintaining authenticity through minimal intervention approaches, unless more radical measures are justified. in addition, we work with our clients to achieve sympathetic development, which make heritage buildings and landscapes more sustainable in the long-term.
