the southwark launchpad is a local council-funded initiative that is managed by qts and was opened in 2015. the scheme is led by our project manager john white, who has over 20 years of experience in the construction and skills sectors. the launchpad, based in elephant & castle, was created as a result of the southwark-led forums into problems facing local construction projects in the borough and surrounding areas. these forums were supported by southwark works with the purpose of the launchpad solely focusing on delivery for construction opportunities, apprenticeships and training for local communities and delivering the employers’ needs. the purpose of the launchpad is to link residents with the construction projects either planned or underway. we have identified that the vast majority of individuals who come into the elephant & castle office are lacking the basic tools to enter the industry. they have no cv, cscs card, health and safety btec qualification and no experience of workin
