Southwest Virginia All Hazards Incident Management Team

the swva-imt was established to support the needs of the southwest virginia region for management of major incidents and planned events that require a public safety response. the team operates consistent with the fema all hazards incident management team technical assistance program. the swva-imt is intent on understanding that the public safety response is best managed by an all hazards approach with an established team of persons qualified under the national incident management system and ics to serve in assigned management positions. the initiative provides a regional resource which acts consistently with nims and the national response framework specific to incident management. further, the swva-imt promotes understanding and leverage of incident management principles to effectively serve southwest virginia. the objective of this formalized effort is to establish teams of individuals qualified to manage complex incidents.
