spaces of hope, inc. is a non-profit organization founded on december 10th, 2012, in the state of kansas. based on the vision of culin thompson, chad hemmerling, matt kenney, and luke mcelwain – four students studying architecture at the university of kansas – the organization serves to promote architecture and design in low economic areas and areas of distress while encouraging the creative process, thoughtful design, and progressive architecture within education. to help achieve our goal of improving educational institutions, public spaces, and communities, spaces of hope has created two competitions in an effort to simultaneously encourage the growth and understanding of planning, design, and architecture within the bounds of education, but to also promote the growth and development of these institutions mentioned above. these two competitions would include one high school division and one collegiate division. the high school division serves to promote the organization and to encour
