Special Education Foundation

the special education foundation is a not-for-profit 501(3)(c) organization whose mission is to assist children with disabilities in st. louis county to achieve success in areas not supported by tax dollars. today, more than 16 percent of st. louis county students receive special education services. special education is costly; having a disability is expensive. as a result, additional resources are necessary to provide for the students’ many needs. to meet these needs, the foundation steps in to provide support in critical areas that go beyond the walls of the classroom. the foundation relies solely on private donations for support. the foundation helps students through: - scholarships for students who are college-bound - summer camps to bridge the critical education gap between spring and fall - hearing aids for children who are deaf and hard of hearing - specialized equipment for children with physical disabilities - mini-grants to teachers for innovative classroom projects - leaders
