specrak is family owned and operated business based in san diego, ca. specrak was invented in 1986 by jim craig to protect a new pair of pricey sunglasses. unable to find a functional way to keep his sunglasses within arms each and out of the sun, he designed the first specrak out of wood and 3m brand tape. his family and friends convicted him specrak was something that could be useful to other people and talked him into selling it. working with john wong, the inventor of the "baby on board" signs for cars. john helped jim transition from wood to plastic. today it's developed into a family business ran by his son ryan who is working to get a specrak on every dash board across the country. the specrak team is focused on creating new, innovative ways to not only use the specrak to protect eyewear but also act as a unique marketing tool. as a company specrak is about more than just protecting glasses. committed to being a company of great service we work hand in hand the down syndrome ass
