sts is a refugee led start-up moving beyond literacy and numeracy to focus on learning environments and 1st century pedagogies to transform high school and university education, schooling, and learning in east africa. 1, learning environments: our physical learning environments will sustain and promote multiple models of student learning for example individual and group work, space for presentations and exploration, promote interaction and sense of community. we will expand our notion of learning environments to encompass more than physical space allow us to provide students with opportunities regardless of whether students are tackling problems in their communities through internships and service projects, networking with peers using our social networking tools to gather and share data on global issues. pedagogy our teachers will also be learners. teachers will themselves be co-learners and collaborators within the learning environment. we will develop a learning community with te
