the sport science institute groningen (ssig) is a collaboration in sport science and education between the three biggest knowledge- and education institutes of groningen (university of groningen, university medical center groningen and hanze university of applied sciences) and the city of groningen. ssig is a strong multidisciplinary network for sharing and developing sport scientific knowledge within three main themes: - sport & healthy ageing - sport & performance - sport & sustainable society the main aims of ssig are to: - bring together fundamental and applied sport research in groningen - develop education/study trajectories within sport - increase the national and international visibility of sport science expertise within the city/region of groningen - promote collaboration and increase knowledge transfer between science, practice, and policymakers in the area of sport
