Spowe-Uganda

the support program for orphans widows and the elderly (spowe) is a charitable organisation founded in september 2008 with offices in uganda and the uk. we work to improve the livelihoods of orphans, widows and elderly bereaved through hiv/aids. spowe is about providing access to education, skills and training, relief, medicine and basic necessities and income. we offer a grassroots approach empowering towards self-reliance. we aim to pay school fees and provide scholastic materials to orphans, provide support for microfinance initiatives, conduct our own extra-curricular awareness and skills workshops in partner schools, provide emergency relief and assistance, sensitisation to hiv/aids, provide access to other forms of training and other activities. we are working towards our 5-year plan of creating a resource centre in kampala which can house these activities all in one place, fostering community spirit.
