habitat for humanity of central lane came to be after a merger between the springfield/eugene habitat for humanity and the cottage grove area habitat for humanity affiliates in 2018. this merger will enable us to better meet the urgent need for affordable homeownership and home repair in lane county. by combining our administrative costs and deploying resources more effectively to where they are needed, we hope to be able to provide safe, decent, affordable homes to more families and complete more repair projects on a local level. with our homeownership program, hard-working families and individuals invest in their futures with a lot of hard work as they become homeowners. households complete up to 500 “sweat equity” hours (depending on household configuration) prior to moving in. after the house is built with volunteers, our homebuyers purchase their home with an affordable, no-profit loan. their monthly mortgage payments cycle directly back into the mission of habitat allowing us to
