Spur Festival

spur is a national festival of politics, art and ideas produced by the literary review of canada (lrc) and diaspora dialogues. founded in 2013 by lrc publisher helen walsh to foster conversation and action in an increasingly contentious and adversarial paradigm of public discourse, spur takes place in multiple cities across canada. we work in partnership with local public libraries, universities and colleges, public policy think-tanks and media outlets on all platforms. in 2017 spur takes place in toronto (april 5 to 7), winnipeg (may 4 to 7), calgary (june 1-4) with fall dates in ottawa, halifax and victoria to be announced soon. past spur events have been broadcast on canadian broadcasting corporation's radio one program 'ideas'​ and the bbc world service's 'the forum'​. many other spur events can be heard via spur radio on itunes and soundcloud.
