square wheels are tools for organizational and individual performance improvement. designed by dr. scott simmerman and used since 1993, they are a worldwide success in their ability to communicate about the issues and opportunities of implementing change and improving organizational effectiveness. pmc sells toolkits and games designed to involve and engage people in communicating about the issues they face and the opportunities for making progress. the basic metaphor is a wooden wagon being pulled by leadership and being pushed by people supporting the activity. the wagon is rolling along on wooden square wheels, which represent the things that don't work smoothly. ironically, the cargo of the wagon are round rubber tires. -- the ideas for improvement are already in the wagon -- best ideas already exist and are used by top performers -- the square wheels already work predictably - goals will be met because this is their basis -- implementing the ideas is difficult because one must stop
