srishti is dedicated to those artisans of sivasagar district who, over the ages, have preserved the knowledge and tradition of muga and eri silk. we are now striving to bring these versatile products to the world arena by enhancing technical infrastructure of the artisans as well as providing them skill upgradation to produce world-class products. our emphasis is on building and augmenting local knowledge so that the activities are sustainable. under the comprehensive handloom cluster development scheme, we have been sanctioned a project to develop the handloom sector. currently, we are implementing the first phase and setting up one common facility center at lakwa, sivasagar, 30 worksheds in five blocks of sivasagar district and have distributed 120 looms to skilled and trained weavers for production of eri and muga silk products. between september-2011 and june-2012, we have trained more than 300 weavers, 42 reelers and 73 rearers. we have installed 120 looms this year and within
