st. jacob melkite community is a melkite greek-catholic community of the eparchy of newton, headed by his grace, bishop nicholas. liturgical services are celebrated in arabic and english. the eparchy (diocese) is a part of the patriarchate of antioch, headed by his beatitude, patriarch joseph. “...and in antioch the disciples were for the first time called christians” (acts 11:26). the melkite greek-catholic church maintains the orthodox faith while also being in communion with the catholic church of rome. our community prays in the byzantine rite following apostolic traditions dating from the beginning of christianity. we have been serving all melkites in san diego, ca since 1990. our sunday divine liturgy is celebrated at 11am at 2235 galahad rd (at holy angels byzantine church). come and see!
