st. leonard’s society of canada (slsc) is a membership-based, charitable organization dedicated to community safety. the first st. leonard’s transitional residence opened its doors in windsor in 1962 to welcome people exiting prison and help them establish themselves in the community. the success of the program was soon recognized and it was duplicated in other cities, leading to the creation of the slsc in 1967. today the slsc team provides policy and research work from ottawa, to support our affiliate agencies across the country. slsc strives to be a leading learning organization, respected by peers and the community at large for researching and promoting “what works” in community corrections and other areas of social justice. slsc believes in: - social responsibility: acting ethically and effectively to address the needs of the community and its members as we pursue our mission. slsc promotes socially responsible conduct throughout the justice system. - integrity: acting with cons
