st. louis food rescue (stlfr) is a non profit organization that serves the greater st. louis community by collecting perishables from various retailers that would have otherwise discarded it at the end of the day and bringing the food to those in need. stlfr is 100% run by volunteers, operating mostly on the weekend when mainstream food collection agencies are closed. stlfr currently makes multiple deliveries to organizations such as the salvation army family haven (in north county and st charles county) and the new life evangelistic center in downtown st. louis. every weekend, we save well over 3,000 pounds of food, mainly produce and bread, and we seek to enlarge that number.
