like many other manufacturing communities, st. thomas was affected by the recent economic downturn. as a manufacturing community we suffered more than many as companies closed or cut back to deal with new financial realities. but with a long and proud manufacturing history, we’ve never been a city for sitting around. a group of private business leaders and members of the community decided that there must be something they could do to bring st. thomas back to its manufacturing glory. and here we are: the st. thomas industrial revolution (stir) was launched in 2010 to encourage st. thomas’s economic development and celebrate the city’s manufacturing and industrious nature! our vision is for st. thomas ontario to become the best manufacturing community in north america – and maybe even the world! we have the skills, manpower, and factories right here! stir is dedicated to helping manufacturers in own backyards or from around the world to be the very best at what they do. from the next gen
