stages is a non-profit registered theatre company formed in 1994, presently based at the siglap south community centre. a group of young part-time actors, jonathan lim, sean yeo, nelson chia, daphne tan, jacqueline low and liow lee hsiang, performed a new play by jonathan - red packets - at the shell lunchtime programme. ten vignettes about chinese new year, touching on its origins, its faded significance among youths, its curious rituals, the social problems it highlights, and the loneliness of those who have no families to celebrate it with. since then, stages has amassed a wide range of works, the most popular being its annual spoofs and sketches comedy production chestnuts. several thousands of our fans and new audiences turn up each year, attributing to its 14-year history. that said, stages chooses not to limit itself to any one particular genre, but instead celebrates variety. other staples to the stages repertory include h is for hantu, a spooky-comedy puppetry-musical for t
