stand up events is a non-for-profit association in victoria that is dedicated to challenging homophobia and the present heteronormative culture of australian sport. through its initiatives like ‘move in may’ and the ‘stand up workshop’ program, stand up events purpose and objective is to fight the inequality, discrimination and exclusion prevalent in australia, promote sexual and gender equality and challenging hetero-normative thinking and behaviour in the australian sporting culture. stand up events was conceived by founder angie greene in january 2015, out of her need and desire to confront the social prejudice suffered by many members of the lgbtiq community.
