standard deviation is a podcast that studies and uncovers the mental models of data analytics leaders. mental models are how we understand the world. they shape what we think and how we know, but they also shape the connections and opportunities that we see. mental models are how we simplify complexity, why we consider some things more relevant than others, and how we reason. most of us, however, are specialists. instead of a matrix of mental models, we acquired a few from our discipline. and these mental models that emerge from our specializations shape who we are. this podcast will focus on the stories of data analytics leaders and how they use mental models to challenge others to think differently by deviating from the standard beyond tools and technology.
