Star Association

the star (special teaching and research) association was established in december 2001 by a group of parents and professionals passionate about inclusive education. star's mission is to empower children with disabilities or special learning needs, and those who support them, through research-based education. at the core of our work are three interwoven strands: child and family services (of course), professional learning in best practice for early childhood practitioners, and research into what works. star's beginnings in 2002, from a macquarie university special education centre program, gave six children with disabilities enrolment for two days per week in a community childcare centre. years of evolution, expansion and research conducted under the direction of dr coral kemp have proven the benefits of our inclusive model. star has now supported at least 350 children in more than 24 childcare centres in the sydney metropolitan area, nsw. our specialised programs include: - childcare pl
