starfish foundation is a greek ngo based on the island of lesvos. in 2015, hundreds of thousands of refugees began to arrive on the island from turkey, predominantly fleeing war in the middle east. starfish foundation was born in response to this humanitarian disaster, with the initial objective of meeting arriving refugee’s immediate needs of food, clothing and hygiene. starfish foundation has since grown from one of the first respondents to the refugee crisis to a multifaceted ngo, continuing to support vulnerable people facing uncertain futures. starfish foundation’s key objectives are improving the lives of refugees, supporting our local community and helping people in need.
