in 1978, a small group of concerned community leaders gathered to address a growing concern – how best to ensure that our local college would be able to meet the growing challenges of the future. a result of this meeting was the birth of what is today called the state college of florida foundation, inc. the foundation’s founders understood the critical nature of the need to sustain a great college. their vision was a foundation that would make a great college better – a foundation that would provide scholarship opportunities to ensure access to all who desired to pursue higher education and raise funds to better equip the college’s classrooms as well as to provide funds for faculty development. the founders visualized an organization that would contribute to the community’s cultural and economic heritage and empower the state college of florida through financial flexibility. investments include fixed assets (bonds), equities (stocks), and cash. in most cases, funds received by the foun
