State Scope of Clinical Practice Unit for Senior Medical Practitioners and Dentists

the new south wales (nsw) health state scope of clinical practice unit is a government organisation in nsw australia. we are part of nsw health, with a state-wide role working on behalf of all nsw local health districts and specialty networks. our role is primarily regarding policies, guidelines and procedures related to credentialing and the delineation of scope of clinical practice of senior medical and dental practitioners. our initial task is to create model scopes of clinical practice for each medical and dental specialty working within nsw health. a scope of clinical practice is the extent of an individual practitioner’s clinical practice within a particular organisation based on their credentials, competence, performance and professional suitability, and the needs and the capability of the organisation to support the practitioner’s scope of clinical practice. defining a practitioner’s scope of clinical practice follows on from credentialing which is an integral part of the recru
