steel city academy comes to gary, indiana to forge a proof point of excellence for k-12 education, through our unique human capital strategies, individualized instruction, and culturally responsive education practices. the same group that is designing steel city academy will be leading steel city academy specifically for gary. we have a deep commitment to recruitment and retention of educators, and a desire build a sustainable pipeline of high quality talent in our schools and larger community. we want team members who will foster a deep understanding of self for our students, and ultimately empower them to access to the world around them. our team will support rigorous academic instruction, culturally relevant advisory curriculum, summer enrichment experiences and community advocacy. our end game results in a shift for gary’s current narrative. it becomes a place where graduates return to teach, where teachers live and send their kids to school and new, economic opportunities flourish
