Stem Muse

stem muse connects and supports women in stem higher ed. and industry via networking and mentorship to patch the leaky pipeline. as phd students at ut austin and women in stem, we realized that students were isolated in their degree programs and unaware of career options outside of medicine and academia, experiencing little exposure to industry careers and few opportunities to engage meaningfully with prospective employers. to address these challenges, sophie founded a ut organization which now has over 700 members and an advisory council of more than 20 ut faculty and staff. when damla joined the org, she and sophie launched a mentorship program to provide sustained, individualized guidance for women undergrad and grad students in stem fields at ut and opportunities for them to explore industry careers. the program has blossomed to serve over 200 participants in the 3rd cycle. inspired by success stories of mentees landing jobs & internships, we launched stem muse to extend our impa
