Stem Sessions

stem sessions is an innovative new interschool collaboration. initially founded at trinity grammar school, kew, and later expanding to include members at ruyton girls school and scotch college melbourne, it works to introduce students to areas of stem subjects that are seldom seen in a high school curriculum. based off the principle that no field of study is too complex to be explained by the right series of questions, it introduces students to subjects as diverse as mathematical ring theory and elementary particle physics through socratic-method-inspired directed inquiry about questions as basic as "what is light?" and "what are integers?". it further seeks to offer students who are not normally challenged in science subjects experiences of struggle, with unique capstone challenges to finish each unit of study, be them analysing atlas data from switzerland in a modified cern masterclass or building a rudimentary matchbox menace ai from scratch.
