stems is a new york based conference spearheaded by students from the horace mann school that aims to empower young women across the globe to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics. as women only make up 24% of the stem workforce, stems believes it is imperative that women take up equal space in developing the scientific and technological innovations that will shape our future. due to the ever-changing situation with the coronavirus, the conference will be held virtually on saturday, october 10, 2020 from 12:00-4:00 pm est. the free online event will feature powerful female keynote speakers who are leaders in stem fields and a panel with female executives from pioneering technology companies, such as amazon and mastercard. attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with and hear from upcoming and prominent female computer scientists. through stems, we hope to collectively take meaningful strides toward a future defined by gender equality in stem.
