Stichting Bachkoor Brabant

bachkoor brabant was established in january 1986, by conductor-musicologist geert van den dungen, who has since then been the artistic director. the aim of the foundation is to give the music of johann sebastian bach (1685-1750) a prominent place in the musical life of brabant and flanders, belgium, through concerts, recitals and lectures. thus, the foundation organized bach solo performances by renowned specialists such as gustav leonhardt and ton koopman. an integral part of the foundation is the bach choir brabant, which is set up each year after auditions. this choir focuses per project on j.s. bach's choral music and choral works by composers who are in music history associated with js bach. of the standard repertoire of the choir include bach's christmas oratorio, b minor mass, magnificat, st. john and st. matthew passion, several cantatas, masses and motets. for over twenty years, the chorus works in performing bach's projects closely with the professional baroque orchestra flor
