tijdens een jongerenreis in 2012 naar uganda werden enkele bestuursleden geconfronteerd met de ongelijke verdeling in de wereld en de armoede waar veel ugandese kinderen in leven. deze kinderen hebben niet de kansen die wij in de westerse wereld geboden krijgen. eén van de millenniumdoelen van de verenigde naties is dat in 2015 alle kinderen toegang hebben tot basisonderwijs. tijdens de reis werd duidelijk dat deze doelstelling ook voor uganda een grote uitdaging is. de indrukken uit de reis en reeds aanwezige contacten met mensen en organisaties in uganda hebben geleid tot een diep verlangen van de bestuursleden om een actieve bijdrage te willen leveren aan activiteiten omtrent onderwijs in de breedste zin. in september 2013 is de stichting ekiroto uganda opgericht om dit diep verlangen te verwezenlijken. ekiroto betekent in het luganda droom. de bestuursleden van stichting ekiroto uganda zijn ervan overtuigd dat deze droom op goed onderwijs voor de allerarmsten werkelijkheid kan word
