wanneer het licht door de wereldberoemde gebrandschilderde ramen valt, is direct duidelijk wat de sint-jan in gouda zo bijzonder maakt. de 'goudse glazen' vormen het hoogtepunt van de europese glasschilderkunst. van de 72 ramen dateren er 61 uit de jaren 1530 tot 1603: meer dan de helft van al het 16e eeuwse gebrandschilderde glas in nederland. de missie van de stichting goudse sint-jan is het toegankelijk maken van de religieuze, esthetische, culturele en historische elementen in de sint-jan. de opbrengsten uit deze activiteiten worden ingezet voor het beheer en behoud van het monumentale kerkgebouw en de museale collectie bestaande uit de 72 gebrandschilderde ramen , de bijbehorende ontwerptekeningen (de cartons) en de inventaris. sinds 1 januari 2018 is stichting goudse sint-jan opgenomen in het museumregister nederland.
