the levedna! foundation provides education and information tailored for professionals and the general public, lobbies dilemmas and encourages debate. levedna! spreads knowledge with workshops, lectures and events . dna is everywhere, it is the basis of all life on earth. the technique for reading dna codes (sequencing) becomes cheaper by the day. therefore, we have to consider what we do want to know of our own dna and that of animals, plants and microorganisms, and what not. levedna! aims to increase knowledge about dna. the levedna! foundation wants to raise awareness of all the possibilities there are with dna, and wants to encourage the public debate in the belief that ‘really knowing what it is about’ enables the discussion and decision making. levedna! started in 2011 as a joint project of the lgtc/lumc, naturalis, hogeschool leiden and nbic in the competition for the academische jaarprijs (prize to involve public into research). levedna! reached the finals but unfortunately did
