the mark foundation supports and organises projects that promote the integration and well-being of people living with a mental handicap or autism in sub sahara africa. vision: “every person counts”, that describes our vision in just three words. it might seem to speak for itself. however, the reality in countries like dr congo or tanzania is a hard one. a congolese man, sitting in his wheelchair, because he had polio as a child, describes the congolese values towards people with a disability as follows: “i’m not handicapped, the only thing is that i can’t walk because my legs no longer work. when you’re head is no longer functioning, than you really have a problem!” in a society in which the daily strugle for just surviving already costs too much energy of it’s people, those living with autism or a mental disability are literally the outcasts. we are convinced that every person is valuable and has the right to his or her own safe place in society. a place that takes into account that w
