m.i.a. is the u.s. abbreviation for missing in action. until today there are still thousands of soldiers missing. solely due to the second world war (1939-1945) the united states army counted 78,000 missing soldiers. this of course, is not only an issue on american side, but all other countries that have participated in the second world war have soldiers missing until today. by means of performing investigations, gaining knowledge and hearing stories of eyewitnesses, foundation missing in action (m.i.a.) might find clues that eventually could lead to the excavation of a wwii missing soldier: this is foundation m.i.a’s ultimate goal. to achieve our goal we focus especially on european wwii battlefields like “the battle of the bulge” and “operation market-garden”. these battlefields are most obvious for us to research, because we operate from the netherlands. “friend” or “enemy” is irrelevant for us. the sole purpose we have; is to give the perished soldiers the final proper burial that
