stichting ruimte werd opgericht in het voorjaar van 2008. de ambitie van de gemeente eindhoven om de stad een creatief gezicht te geven én te laten behouden, leidde tot de oprichting van een stichting die toeziet op passende huisvesting van de aanwezige kunstenaars en creatieve ondernemers. de gemeente koos daarbij nadrukkelijk voor een extern orgaan om de onafhankelijkheid en slagvaardigheid van de organisatie te waarborgen. met opleidingen als de tue, design academy en de eindhovense school binnen de stadsgrenzen en tal van creatieve opleidingen in de nabijheid van eindhoven, bestaat er een grote behoefte aan aansluitende werkruimte. de waarde van creatief ondernemerschap voor de stad wordt erkend en gekoesterd door gemeente, woningcorporaties en projectontwikkelaars. stichting ruimte werd in het leven geroepen om deze waardering meer te laten zijn dan een luchtledig gegeven en er ook écht iets mee te doen. daarnaast bestond er in eindhoven behoefte aan een goede afstemming tussen be
