our foundation aims to promote english language proficiency and internet skills in tropical rain forest areas. the foundation name ‘sebari’ is formed by the acronym from the indonesian words sekolah bahasa ingris (english language school). it is also itself an indonesian word. ‘sebari’ stands for ‘spreading’ or ‘dispersion’ - in our case it refers to spreading knowledge. the foundation is based on the idea that ecologically responsible development of the tropical rain forest areas in indonesia will only be possible if the local populations posess the means to feed their families. illegal logging and destruction of the rain forests (described by experts as ‘ecocidal’) and poisoning the rivers with mercury in order to extract gold from the water is a global disaster. saving wildlife from extinction (orangutan, honey bears and many other endangered species) and responsible exploitation of the tropical rain forests will only be possible if the local population can create an economic enviro
