unity in diversity (uid) is a registered stichting (foundation) in the netherlands focused on organizing and setting-up projects that support and promote the socio-cultural integration of refugees in the netherlands and beyond. refugee integration has three dimensions: legal, economic, and socio-cultural; it is also a mutual process involving both the refugees and the host populations. while the focus of our work is on socio-cultural integration, we believe that comprehensive, all-round integration is key to the refugee challenge facing the international community today. integral to our work is recognition of the fact that apprehensions host populations may have about opening up to newcomers are not exclusive; refugees confront the same, in particular fear of rejection and of falling victim to stereotypes, also the threat of losing their cultural identities in the attempt to seek protection in a new state. uid aims ultimately to help build a sense of community between refugees a
