het vakantiespel wordt ieder jaar in alphen aan den rijn gehouden in de laatste week van de basisschoolvakantie. het vakantiespel is één van de grootste kinderevenementen in zijn soort in nederland. jaarlijks doen er ongeveer 1.700 kinderen uit groep 3 t/m 8 mee aan het vakantiespel tijdens de laatste week van de basisschoolvakantie. deze 1.700 kinderen worden van maandag t/m vrijdag vermaakt met sport & spel, vossenjacht, theater, lampionnenoptocht en voorstellingen. het vakantiespel is een stichting en wordt in zijn geheel georganiseerd door vrijwilligers, ruim 40 enthousiastelingen het gehele jaar door en ongeveer 500 vrijwilligers in de week zelf.
