stilt is a lending platform for expats in the u.s. for loans at better rates than other lenders and banks. we use proprietary and public data sources to predict credit worthiness of expats in the u.s. with limited or zero credit history. these expats are educated and financially responsible, but don't have a u.s. credit score. it's difficult for traditional lenders and banks to understand their true risk. we predict employability, financial responsibility, and propensity to leave u.s. and determine loan amounts and interest rates based on that. around 4.5 million international people come to the u.s. on long term visas (h-1/f-1/j-1/l-1) every year from all over the world. about a million of these are students, majorly from china, india, and korea and spend $30 billion on education. we are initially targeting this untapped market.
