stitchuary.com is an online knitting community that gives knitters year round access to fresh-from-the farm fibers that have been available mainly at sheep shows and fiber fests. knitters can purchase natural, artisan yarns from small local independent farms throughout the country. the site offers yarn from farms in five regions of the us noting the animal breed, the yarn weight, the blend, color and more. knitting designers are encouraged to create patterns and samples using stitchuary yarn to sell as downloadable patterns on the site. partners lori beitler and susan pestrichello founded stitchuary after a trip to the ny sheep & wool festival leaving the type - a worlds of architecture and high finance for a simpler lifestyle. the stichuary format allows farmers who sell at the festivals, and generally have a lot of product left over, to sell yarn all year.
