what? the semantic technology laboratory (stlab), within the institute for cognitive sciences and technology (istc,http://www.istc.cnr.it/) of the italian national research council (cnr, http://www.cnr.it/), has been founded in the autumn of 2008. why? the lab aims at developing new paradigms and technologies that will make machines able to support humans in cognitive-oriented tasks. the vision is to develop a new paradigm for the automatic interpretation of web knowledge based on frames. who? stlab people include either local collaborators working partly or full time for the lab, or external people that share r&d; interests with the lab. the founders are aldo gangemi, alfio gliozzo (now at ibm watson), valentina presutti, and alberto salvati. the research staff include also diego reforgiato, andrea nuzzolese (phd student), sergio consoli, paolo ciancarini (associate researcher), eva blomqvist (associate researcher), giorgia lodi, alessandro russo, mario caruso, luigi asprino. know how
