our mission is to develop highly motivated middle school students who are eager to learn and dedicated to attending class through the use of incentives coupled with a financial literacy curriculum focused on investing that reinforces math, language arts, and social studies. through a three-year curriculum developed under johns hopkins university, stocks in the future educates students in strategies for earning, saving, and investing with the knowledge of business concepts and the stock market. the students are rewarded with ‘sif dollars’ for improved attendance and grades which enable them to purchase publicly-traded company stocks and create a financial portfolio that is transferred to the student upon turning 18 and graduating. currently working with more than 16 schools and 1000 students, stock in the future has helped reverse 5th graders’ tendency for poor attendance, increase general attendance, and improve students’ grades. in encouraging students to invest in their financial fut
