when it comes to living with a newly applied stoma, patients and their designated nurses are confronted with a repetitive set of problems. stoma patients report having difficulties sleeping or engaging in ordinary social life since they are fearful their stoma bag might fill unnoticed, detach, and spill its contents. for the problem described above, we provide a solution called stomaguard which prevents the unnoticed overfilling of stoma bags. this is achieved by measuring the fill level of the stoma bag and alerting the user (patient/nurse) once a predefined fill level is reached.
