”stonewood design are an award-winning practice who are punching well above their weight in project size and ambition via its own organic process. even its beginnings as a practice came about not consciously, but the product of founders nicola du pisanie’s and partner matt vaudin’s wish to balance work and family life. adam chambers joined to give the practice critical mass; and while all came out of stirling prize-winning firm feilden clegg bradley, they chose to work with and under the same roof as a local firm of bespoke contractors, stonewood builders, in a small barn in the idyllic cotswold village of castle combe. the firm’s appellation, interestingly, didn’t stem from the usual surname convention, nor from their desire to use the acronyms that seem all the rage for architects, but merely from the contingency of the situation - stonewood design. from that office projects burgeoned; from small but highly crafted home extensions to whole new residences. stonewood are recipients o
