in early 2001, gabe albert and ziyad nazem successfully started a start-up internet company which specialized in co-location services, managed hosting solutions, and web design. in 2001, ziyad nazem, as a the co-founder and president of the company was awarded an entrepreneurial leadership scholar award by the kauffman foundation. in 2003, the company competed at the tech valley $50,000 collegiate business plan competition, coming in as a semi-finalist with the help of ziyad. at the height of the company, stormcloud communications had over 300 managed hosting customers, and a large web design portfolio. the company was shut down in late 2003 to early 2004 so the founders could pursue higher educational opportunities.
